Yolanda Hadid: ‘Bella had to have a nose job to fix her snoring’

Earlier this year , Bella Hadid admitted to having had a nose job for the first time . In the past, the supermodel had always denied having any cosmetic work done, but admitted to getting a nose job at the age of 14 . She also immediately said that she now regrets the procedure: “I wish I had kept the nose of my ancestors,” she told American Vogue . (Bella’s father is Palestinian.) “I think I would have grown into it.”

On this news, Bella’s mother – of course never the father – received a lot of criticism from fans and followers and labeled the Dutch as a ‘bad mother’ for having her daughter do a nose job at such a young age. Last night Yolanda Hadid , who was a guest on the Dutch talk show Jinek, let us know how it really is.

‘Bella had a problem with snoring’

Eva Jinek asked Yolanda Hadid about daughter Bella’s criticism and rhinoplasty, to which she replied:

“She was almost 16, she wasn’t 14, that was a mistake in the magazine. She has always had trouble sleeping and snoring and had a very hard time breathing at night. We had to wait until she was almost 16 and it was something she always wanted and the doctor said was really necessary.’

To which Eva Jinek asked why Bella now looked at it differently, Yolanda said:

‘Yes, Bella is very emotional and is now fighting for Palestine and for the children of Palestine… If her nose was just working properly it wouldn’t have been a problem, and it never was my idea. So 130 million followers say “oh Yolanda, is such a bad mother because she encouraged that”, but that is really not true, it was really something that didn’t work well. That’s a choice she made herself and that’s how it is.’

So there you have it. Although it is of course the much-used “excuse” for a nose job in Hollywood, the well-known “respiratory problem” (Ashley Tisdale, Jennifer Aniston, Cameron Diaz, Fergie… do we need to go on?). But hey, let’s give everyone the benefit of the doubt.
